Terracotta base plate for planting / tying on - 5x5 cm

The square terracotta base plate made of high-quality fired clay is perfect for tying up mosses. With this you can easily lay a moss lawn in the aquarium - simply cut the moss into small pieces, tie it on or fix it with cyanoacrylate instant glue, done.

Tip for perfectionists: cut the moss into very fine pieces of less than 1 mm, mix it with a little water and spread this "moss slurry" evenly on the terracotta plates. They are then cultivated in a humid atmosphere over water until the moss has grown and covers the plate evenly like a fur. Optimally, this is done in a small aquarium with lighting, in which there is a maximum of 0.5 cm of water and which is covered airtight with cling film. Do not forget to aerate once a day! If the moss cushion has grown after some time, the plate is simply placed in the aquarium.

The terracotta bottom plate is made in Germany in pure handwork . By firing at high temperatures, the plate becomes stable, hard and water neutral.

As with all ceramic aquarium accessories, many microorganisms can attach to the terracotta bottom plate on the porous surface in the form of biofilms , which can break down organic contaminants and pollutants in the water and thus contribute enormously to improving water quality .
