Genus: | Hygrophila |
The relatively undemanding background plant Hygrophila corymbosa "siamensis", also known as Thai water friend, originates from Southeast Asia. Ideally, combine a group of the Thai Water Friend in the background with grass-like and narrow-leaved plants. A graduated cut looks particularly attractive with the Thai water friend. Its relatively narrow leaves are light green and take on a reddish-brown hue under a lot of light.
Because Thai Water Lily grows quickly, it should be cut back regularly. If allowed to grow above the water level in an open aquarium, it often comes into bloom. Hygrophila corymbosa "siamensis" is also very well suited for emerse keeping, for example in a wet terrarium.
After pruning, Thai Water Lily will form many side shoots, giving it an increasingly bushy shape. Simply stick the cut shoots into the substrate, they will soon sprout roots and begin to grow.
As a heavy grower, the Thai water friend forms a strong competitor to algae because it consumes excess nutrients.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new setups the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
