As an undemanding plant for the background, the Thai water friend Hygrophila corymbosa "siamensis" from Southeast Asia is well known. A group planting of this water friend with narrow-leaved or grassy background plants looks beautiful, especially if this group is cut in a stepped terraced manner. The rather narrow leaves are bright light green, and under a lot of light, the upper leaves are a reddish brown.
Thai Water Lily grows very vigorously and should be cut back regularly. If allowed to grow above the water surface, it will produce purple flowers. Hygrophila corymbosa "siamensis" is excellent for open aquariums, for paludariums and for wet terrariums, where it also thrives emersely.
When the Thai Water Lily is cut back, it forms new side shoots and becomes very bushy.
The cut parts of the plant can simply be put into the substrate, where they quickly take root.
Due to its rapid growth, Thai Water Lily removes many nutrients from the water, thereby depriving algae of their food source.
