Test for measuring total hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) of water in aquariums and ponds using the titrimetric method. It is practical and extremely easy to use. The respective reagent solution is added drop by drop to the water until the color changes. One drop of the reagent corresponds to one German total hardness (°dGH) or carbonate hardness (°dKH). Many fish species have a large tolerance to water hardness. However, for some species, the correct hardness level is important for good health and reproductive ability. The higher the carbonate hardness (KH), the more stable the reaction of the water. However, this makes it more difficult to lower the pH, which may be necessary for some fish.
