from over 3,000 reviews "The Tylomelania sp. "Mini Yellow" belongs to a species that is not yet defined. It remains very small with only 2 to 3 cm shell length and is therefore the only Tylomelania from Sulawesi, which can be kept in aquariums from 20 l. With its dark brown to almost black, nicely sculpted shell and the yellow-black body it looks very pretty. The typical Tylo proboscis "nose" is also pronounced in this miniature edition. The Tylomelania sp. "Mini Yellow" originates from the Old Lakes (the Malili lake system) on Sulawesi.
In nature it lives mainly on wood lying in the water and on stones, where it grazes on algae coverings and biofilms. Also dead plant remains are eaten with pleasure. The Mini Tylomelania does not eat living plants. In the aquarium it likes to eat brown autumn leaves, food tablets, vegetables, green food like nettle and spinach, granulated food, special snail food and so on, besides plant remains and growth.
The Tylomelania sp. "Mini Yellow" is separately sexual, but it is not possible to distinguish the males and females by external characteristics. If you want to reproduce the animals, it is recommended to use a group of at least five snails. Tylomelania are viviparous. The females have a brood sac in which several eggs fertilized at different times mature and hatch. They give birth to a single young at relatively regular intervals of several weeks.
Mini Tylos are almost ideal for Sulawesi shrimp aquariums. They take care of food remains and keep the aquarium clean. However, Mini Tylo can also be kept very well with other shrimp, snails and peaceful, non-intrusive fish. Crayfish and crabs are predators.
