from over 3,000 reviews "Water values: | soft to hard |
Difficulty: | for beginners |
Propagation: | not possible in fresh water |
Origin: | acclimatized wild |
Coloring: | colorful |
The very interestingly patterned, extremely variable in color ninja shr imp is very sought after precisely because of its colorful patterning. Depending on their mood, these shrimp can change color within a short time. Female ninja shrimp grow up to 3 cm, the somewhat smaller and slimmer males reach up to 2.5 cm. In the wild they are found in the Indo-West Pacific in small forest streams with lots of foliage on the bottom.
In nature they feed mainly on algae growth and biofilms and are therefore not only pretty, but also extremely useful aquarium inhabitants. In the community aquarium they also like to eat fish food remains. Commercial shrimp food is just as popular with Ninja shrimp as spinach or nettle. Above all, they love brown autumn leaves, which should not be missing as permanent food in any aquarium with invertebrates anyway. Moss balls (Cladophora aegagrophila) or mosses are gladly and persistently searched for food. Ninja shrimp are grateful for a suitable protein food fed twice a week.
Ninja shrimp do not interbreed with other shrimp species, so they socialize well with species with similar requirements, as well as larger crustaceans, freshwater crabs, mussels and snails. Fish that are not too large and not too curious are also suitable aquarium partners.
The Ninja Shrimp is uncomplicated to keep, its breeding on the other hand is not that easy. The female releases after about 4 weeks gestation period about 200 larvae, which need for their development brackish water to seawater and special food. The rearing is comparable to that of the Amana shrimp . In freshwater the larvae die or are eaten.
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft mainfeed softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, where the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
