The pretty Gaimards hermit crab is a pretty bottom dweller in the marine aquarium and very easy to care for to boot. Scientifically it is called Calcinus gaimardii and is found in almost all oceans. With its colorful appearance it inspires for a long time in the hobby and is a great eye-catcher, which still keeps the reef clean.

With a size of about 4 cm it belongs to the smaller hermit crabs. Since it also sheds its skin at regular intervals, it needs several spare shells in different sizes. It can happen that it preys on snails if there are not enough shells available.
