from over 3,000 reviews "With its dark green leaves, the dwarf spear leaf, Anubias barteri var. nana is ideal for the foreground or middle ground in the aquarium. Its undemanding nature and slow growth make it a popular aquarium plant that is easy to maintain and propagate. Even in rather shady aquariums the Dwarf Spear Leaf develops well and is therefore also suitable for beginners.
Instead of roots, this epiphyte has a rhizome, which is better not planted, otherwise it can rot. The plants are preferably planted on other substrates, such as roots or stones, from where they simply continue to reproduce. It can also happen that the dwarf spear leaf starts to bloom under water, which is a very special eye-catcher.
Among the Anubias, var. nana is one of the smallest species, which makes it ideal for nanocubes or aquascapes. To propagate, simply cut off a piece of the rhizome with a few leaves and reattach it.
Since the leaves of Anubias are rather hard and taste bitter, they are frowned upon by most herbivores such as perch, so they are also well suited for the reefs of Tanganyika or Malawia aquariums.
Our recommendation: For magnificent plant growth, we recommend Premium Nutrient Substrate when setting up a new aquarium: NatureHolic GroundBooster.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
