The pretty large scissor hermit crab looks particularly smart in the marine aquarium and is also very easy to keep. Scientifically it is also called Calcinus laevimanus and can be kept from 100 liters. It is found in almost all oceans of the world.
The pretty hermit crabs reach a size of about 5-6 cm and need, like all hermit crabs, different sized spare homes, which should be available to them in sufficient numbers, because otherwise it can be that they go to live snails. With their pretty face they are real eye-catchers in the tank. On the orange eye stalks sit light blue pairs of eyes. They have an enlarged left claw with which they close their shell tightly.
As an omnivore, the large scissor hermit cleans up with food remains, algae and biofilms, but also growth and keeps the reef clean. Breeding is rather impossible. It can be kept individually, but also in groups and can be socialized with other invertebrates and peaceful fish
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
