Description

The Caribbean turban snail is scientifically called Turbo fluctosus, internationally sometimes even Mexican Turbo snail. Its habitat is in the Gulf of California and Mexico. As an excellent algae destroyer it is extremely popular in marine aquariums and uncomplicated to keep.

According to literature, it can even be bred in the aquarium. With its conspicuously thick-walled shell, the turban snail is able to stand up to even nosey fish and can close its shell tightly with the help of an operculum. In its habitats it is often found in coral reefs, where it feeds on algae and biofilms, but also on other fine particles. Also Briopsis are not safe from it.

The turban snail can be easily socialized with other invertebrates as long as they are not explicit snail hunters, also peaceful fish are well suited. Turbo snail shells also serve as a new home for hermit crabs.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
