White spotted cichlid DNZ - Tropheus duboisi maswa
The funny spotted white spotted cichlid changes with time and shows a completely different coloration as an adult, but it is also beautiful. These beautiful growth eaters are great to socialize with other Tropheus species from Lake Tanganyika and also with some other genera of cichlids. These relatively peaceful cichlids are great to keep and observe in the aquarium. As mouthbrooders, they have developed a very unique reproductive strategy for themselves. Their long life expectancy makes them great fish for a longer relationship with their aquarium keeper. - Garnelio

Description

Native to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, the White-spotted Tropheus or White-spotted Cichlid Tropheus duboisi maswa is a beautiful site variant of this great growth-feeding cichlid from the East African Rift Valley. It is also known as the White-spotted Brabant Cichlid. Here you buy DNZ (offspring from Germany).

The White-spotted Cichlid is an attractive and quite peaceful cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. These ornamental fish grow up to 15 cm long and show themselves as inhabitants of the rocky littoral high-backed and laterally relatively flattened. The males can be easily distinguished from the females thanks to their more pointed nose, greater body length and more intense colors. The juvenile dress of Tropheus duboisi maswa "white dot" is characterized by a blue-brown ground color and many small white dots, which are more or less arranged in rows. The dorsal fin also shows a dot pattern, while the caudal fin is dark. The adult fish, on the other hand, show a dark ground color, solid colored fins and a yellowish band just behind the pectoral fin. The head is bluish.

In the fishes we deliver from German breeding it is not yet possible to differentiate the sexes, because they are juveniles.

This Tropheus can be socialized well with other species of the genus Tropheus and gets along very well in the group from 5-10 animals. Also with Eretmodus / Tanganicodus / Spatodus the cichlid can be kept well together.

The rather bottom oriented White-spotted Tropheus needs in the aquarium many rocks and stone structures with crevices and caves and coarse sand as bottom substrate. Planting is not necessary in the aquarium for Tanganyika cichlids; plants are eaten by the cichlids anyway. Due to the size of the ornamental fish, the aquarium needs a minimum size of 150 cm side length. For the cichlids blessed with a good appetite, the aquarium should be very well filtered.

The White-spotted Cichlid is a maternal mouth-breeder: the female carries the spawn in her mouth until the fry hatch. Breeding in the aquarium is possible. During the breeding season, the white-spotted cichlid is somewhat more aggressive and defends its territory more vehemently than usual. You can feed the young Tropheus duboisi maswa "White Spot" with freshly hatched Artemia nauplii in the first time and then switch to larger live food as they grow.

Good water hygiene is generally good for the well-being of the Whitepoint Tropheus - and also helps them to spawn. Water values for these beautiful Tanganyika Cichlids are medium hard to hard with a pH of 7.5 to 9.0 and an aquarium temperature between 23 and 28 °C.

The White-spotted Cichlid is a predominantly herbivorous omnivore and eats algae and other growth, as well as tiny crustaceans and worms, which it finds in the algae and simply eats along with it. Tropheus duboisi maswa "White Point" can be fed well in the aquarium with commercial food for omnivorous and herbivorous aquarium fish. They readily take flakes, tablets and granules, and love spirulina flakes and even soft vegetables.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic Spirulina Tabs are a good supplementary food for all growth eating cichlids in the aquarium. As main feed we recommend the tasty NatureHolic Mainfeed Granules for omnivorous aquarium fish, which perfectly meets their requirements for food composition. Thanks to their soft texture, the food pearls are gentle on the mouth and can be eaten very well by the fish.

Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
