Four mistakes to avoid with your axolotl aquarium!

Axolotls are popular pets that can be kept in aquariums. However, there are some mistakes that can be made when caring for axolotl aquariums that can affect the health and well-being of the animals. Here are four mistakes you should avoid when caring for your axolotl aquarium:

  1. Incorrect water temperature: axolotls require cooler water than many other aquarium inhabitants and too high a water temperature can lead to stress and illness. Make sure that the aquarium water is kept between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius.

  2. Notenough space: Axolotls need enough space to move freely and hide. Make sure that the aquarium is large enough and offers enough hiding places.

  3. Lack of cleaning: Axolotls produce a lot of secretions and the aquarium should be cleaned regularly to improve the water quality and promote the health of the animals. Make sure you clean the aquarium thoroughly at least once a week.

  4. Incorrect feeding: Axolotls are carnivores and require protein-rich foods. Make sure you give them sufficient amounts of good quality fish food or frozen live food such as mosquito larvae or Artemia. Avoid feeding them only dry food.
