NatureHolic PurZeolite for Aquarium

What exactly is zeolite?

Zeolites are similar to montmorillonite a group of aluminum silicates that occur in nature in very large quantities. However, zeolites can also be reconstructed and produced artificially. The really interesting thing about zeolite is its highly porous structure, arranged like a so-called micro-sieve, which can retain very small molecules.

The very stable mineral structure makes zeolite not very susceptible. It is therefore not decomposed by bacteria or UV light - unlike chemical components. Among zeolites, clinoptilolites are the most effective.

What can zeolite do in the aquarium as a water conditioner?

Because zeolites have a permanent negative base charge, they act as cation exchangers. This means that zeolite can bind and physically hold various pollutants such as ammonia, heavy metals, pesticides and the like in its microfine structures. This makes it an effective water purifier, also for the aquarium.

These physical bonds are very stable and the pollutants thus stayed away from the water quite permanently.

The best handling of zeolite in the aquarium

However, it is possible that substances to which the zeolite "prefers" to bind (such as ammonium - NH4) than to other substances, loosen the bond, so that unwanted molecules can re-enter the water. We therefore recommend to regularly mud the bottom of an aquarium if zeolite is used there as a water conditioner. In this way, deposited zeolite components are removed from the aquarium together with the pollutants bound to them. The filter should also be washed out from time to time to remove filtered out zeolite along with pollutants.

Another possibility would be to simply add the NatureHolic PurZeolith water conditioner to the changing water for the aquarium. After a few hours of waiting, the zeolite will settle completely to the bottom and the purified water can be added to the aquarium without the sediment.

NatureHolic PurZeolith - a zeolite based water conditioner

Our mineral water conditioner NatureHolic PurZeolith for aquariums consists of 100% pure, finely ground zeolite. Due to the fine grinding, the tiny particles have a particularly large surface in relation to the volume and have a correspondingly highly effective binding capacity for pollutants of all kinds in the aquarium water.

After the addition of NatureHolic PurZeolith the water in the aquarium appears by the powdery, finely distributed zeolite first slightly milky to cloudy. However, because zeolite settles to the bottom quite quickly or is captured by the filter, it does not take long for the aquarium water to become crystal clear and transparent again.

Dosage of NatureHolic PurZeolite water conditioner

For use in the aquarium or for purifying the changing water, add 0.05-0.1 g (half a dosing spoon or a small pinch) of PurZeolite per 10 liters of water. In the aquarium, the powder is best sprinkled on the water surface and then automatically distributed evenly in the water by the filter current. In the changing water tank, you should stir briefly accordingly to achieve a good distribution of the zeolite water conditioner.
