from over 3,000 reviews "The Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" is a so far undetermined species of the genus Perisesarma and is therefore called Perisesarma sp. It is a small remaining mangrove crab from the Indo-Pacific that is as gregarious as it is colorful.
The Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" has pink to very light orange legs, a dark purple back with the namesake almost flower-shaped lighter spots, and golden claw arms with a large conspicuous red spot. With a carapace width of only a few inches, the Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" is a small member of its genus. The males of Perisesarma sp. are characterized by a tapered, V-shaped abdominal flap, while the abdominal flap of the females resembles an upside-down U.
As a mangrove crab, the Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" typically belongs to the primitive reproductive type . The females lay a lot of very small eggs, which then hatch into larvae that must enter brackish water to develop. Naturally this is very difficult to realize in the terrarium, and therefore unfortunately nothing is known about a breeding of this Perisesarma species.
The Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" is a social mangrove crab that should be kept in a group. Please do not socialize the Perisesarma sp. "Red Spot Golden Arm" with other invertebrates, especially not with other crabs.
A small group of nano crabs can consist of 5-6 of the pretty crabs, preferably with a surplus of females. 2 males can be kept well with 3-4 females in an aquaterrarium from 60x30 cm floor space with a little more than 50% water part. The Perisesarma sp. "Golden Arm Red Spot" eats - if at all - only very fine, soft plants, so with coarser perching plants or harder aquarium plants like Anubias you can also design the aquaterrarium nicely. Whether the water part contains fresh water or salt water is not so important, ideally you offer both types of water in the aquaterrarium. The hardness of the water does not matter.
The soil on the land part of the crab terr arium for the Perisesarma nano crab ideally consists of coco humus or terrarium humus. The soil should be permanently moist, which helps the humidity. Because the Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" likes to dig, the substrate should also be at least 10 cm high, so that this pretty mangrove crab can create its short living burrows.
The air temperature in the crab aquaterrarium should be between 20 and 26 °C, and we recommend a humidity of around 80-90%. This Perisesarma sp. "Golden Hand Red Spot" climbs very actively and therefore it must be kept in an absolutely gapless, tightly closing terrarium container.
The Flower Head Nanocrab "Red Spot Golden Arm" likes a balanced diet of vegetable and meaty food. For daily feeding we recommend giving high quality fruits, vegetables and leafy greens along with small pieces of fish, frozen food, small pieces of earthworm, FD food (freeze dried insects for example) and also some live food in the form of white isopods and springtails that you can plant in the aquaterrarium for the crabs to help themselves. These small beneficial insects also like to take care of food scraps that have not been eaten by the nano crabs. Brown autumn leaves are always beneficial in an aquaterrarium for mangrove crabs because they serve as permanent food as well as a hiding place for the crabs.
Our food recommendation: Crabs in the wild tend to have a very varied diet. Most species are omnivores, and with the Natureholic Crab Feed Sticks we have taken this preference into account. They contain biologically balanced animal and vegetable components, which are also part of the natural food spectrum of omnivorous crabs in the field in such or such a similar way. The valuable ingredients of NatureHolic Crab Feed naturally support the molting, digestion, growth and reproduction of your crabs.
Our plant recommendation: For planting, use marsh plants, which are plants that are rooted in soil that is very wet or even submerged, but whose flowers and leaves are usually all or partially in the airspace and can be seen above the water surface. Thus, marsh plants are usually found on and in lakes and streams, but also on and in garden ponds or other bodies of water that provide them with a wet substrate, but still leave room for flowers and leaves to show to the outside.
Expert Tip: We recommend NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid when keeping invertebrates. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your invertebrates. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
