Description

The Two-spotted Tetra is a small rarity in the aquaristics and not so often to be found in the trade. Scientifically also called Exodon paradoxus, it originates from the Amazon region between Brazil and Guyana. With its great appearance it is a great eye catcher in the tank and is suitable for medium sized black water tanks. Depending on how it is placed under the lighting, it glitters wonderfully.

Because these predators are a bit more demanding in the care you should already write the level "advanced" on your cap. They reach in about 15 cm and have large black spots in front of the dorsal fin and caudal fin root, which gave them their name. With its red fin tips it is a great eye catcher. The predatory tetra can live for about 8 years years old.

A Socialization with other fish is rather not possiblebecause otherwise they will live up to their name and become a Scales and Fin biting and fin biting. Therefore, smaller fish are also well suited as live food. However, very large catfish are immune to them. We recommend you to keep these specialists best in a species tank.

The aquarium for this fish should be at least 200 liters and have a gravel bottom. Place your Plants at the edge and in the background and give your animals enough swimming space, but also retreat possibilities with roots, Caves and Stone structures. You should also use a cover, as the two-spotted tetras are very active and good jumpers.

Breeding these special animals is quite possible but difficult, as both the parents chase their spawn, but also the young attack each other. The females become much rounder and thicker than the males, so you can easily distinguish them.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic professional main feed is a professional main feed for all aquarium fish. We supply Hauptfeed in the form of soft granules, which, thanks to its grain size of half a millimeter, can be easily ingested by small to medium-sized fish. The soft consistency resembles the texture of insect larvae in nature and protects the fish mouth from micro-injuries.

Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
