Dark colors also increase their feel-good factor and convey security, causing them to form stronger colors. The very fine grain size also protects the fine barbels of bottom-dwelling fish such as dwarf armored catfish. But also other invertebrates and fish can be kept very well on the quartz gravel.
As the largest biological filter , a number of microorganisms are also formed on the substrate, whose denitrifying work improves the water quality. Especially shrimps like to nibble them. The hardness-free gravel is CO2 resistant and lightfast and therefore absolutely water neutral. Together with plate gravel or other wood and decorations, which you can find in our store, you can create your own personal underwater fairy tale world!
Special nutrient substrates, placed under the gravel, also allow you to create a long-term fertilizer depot from which your plants will benefit to the maximum. This is especially recommended for newly set up aquariums, as their roots develop faster and stronger and ensure a firm hold in the gravel. A magnificent plant growth not only looks great, but also contributes significantly to the oxygen supply and also deprives algae of the food basis.
We recommend this substrate setup:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of special nutrient soil or another nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of Dennerle crystal quartz gravel.
Before first use, the gravel should be washed out several times with cold water to remove abrasion caused by transport. By the way, you can find more colors in the store!
