Taiwan Bee hybrids F1 - Caridina cf. cantonensis
A favorable way to get a group of Taiwan Bees are mixers, which look like ordinary Black Bees, but carry in their genes the dispositions for Taiwan Bees. In their offspring you can find a number of Taiwan Bees, from which you can then gradually draw your own strain. - Garnelio

Description

Taiwan Bee hybrids look like normal Black Bees (Caridina logemanni), but they are the first daughter generation (F1) of a mating of Taiwan Be es (also called Shadow Bees) with Black Be es. The trait "Black Bee" is inherited dominantly, the trait "Taiwan Bee" is inherited recessively. For this reason, the F1 in the so-called phenotype (the external appearance) looks like a normal Black Bee. In its genes(genotype), however, it carries the characteristics of the Taiwan Bee. If you now mate the animals of the F1 generation with each other, the second daughter generation (F2) will have 25% Taiwan Bees, 25% pure Black Bees and again 50% mixers, which look like Black Bees, but have Taiwan genes, according to Mendel's law of dominant-recessive inheritance. Of course, the actual proportions may differ, and the percentage distribution is a statistical figure that is actually reached only when the number of offspring is very high. Nevertheless, mixersare a good and especially cheap way how to get a strainof Taiwan Bees.

With a length of 3.5 cm, the females grow into relatively large dwarf shrimp, while the males appear less large and less bulky.

Bee Shrimp and also their hybrids with Taiwan Bees like soft and cool water. The germ density should be low, while the oxygen content should be high. To maintain the required temperatures of maximum 25 °C, a cooling device at the aquarium may be necessary in summer. A heater is rather not needed. The soft water required is easiest to make with osmosis water and a mineral saltsuitable for bee shrimp . In most regions, tap water is not optimal for long-term keeping or even breeding of Bee Shrimp or Shadow Bees. Active Soil substrate influences the water values, makes the water soft and stabilizes the values. However, you can also keep Taiwan Mixers on neutral gravel or another non-hardening substrate. In every week you should make 10 to 30% water change with adjusted water.

If you create good conditions for them, Taiwan Mixers reproduce very neatly. The females have between 20 and 40 offspring that hatch from the eggs, which they nurse under their abdomen for four to six weeks and fan with fresh water. Pure Taiwan mixers appear again and again in the offspring, which can then be transferred to their own aquarium - so you can breed pure Shadow Bees from relatively inexpensive animals within a short time. The offspring of the Taiwan mixers are not very mobile in the beginning and stay more or less where they hatched. Therefore a Dust food should be given that will reach practically everywhere in the aquarium and will take good care of the shrimp babies.

Taiwan mixers, like all dwarf shrimp, are omnivores that are not difficult to feed. In addition to shrimp food on a predominantly vegetable basis and greens, they also like special two or three times a week Protein food. Brown autumn leaves are an optimally suitable permanent food in the aquarium, which even have a positive effect on the water values.

Taiwan Mixers can mate with all Bee Shrimp and Shadow Bees, the offspring from these matings are fertile. Socialization is possible without any problems, as they all have the same requirements. You can also keep Taiwan Mixers together with other shrimp species if the requirements match. Snails and small calm fish are also suitable aquarium mates, although a species tank is ideal if you want to breed specifically for Taiwanese offspring.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, which preserves the vitamins and other valuable ingredients as much as possible.

Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
