The Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shr imp is a hybrid of different Caridina species. Bee shrimp (Caridina logemanni) and tiger shrimp (Caridina mariae) have definitely put their stamp on it. As a hybrid shrimp we carry the Black Mosura Tiger as Caridina sp. Their breeder Leon Su aka Skyfish from Taiwan has paid attention to beautiful patterns as well as high color coverage.
Here you buy breeding groups of 5 animals of grade S or of 2 animals of grade SS. Shrimps in grade S have few transparent spots, with shrimps in grade SS the color coverage is again clearly increased. The Black Mosura Tiger grows to about 2-3 cm in size. Their base color is opaque bright white, the pattern is black. The Mosura pattern shows up as a black spot in front of the tail fan, the tiger stripes are thin and also black.
The females of the Black Mosura Tiger are beefier and larger than the slimmer males. They are well recognized by the tiger scoop, the enlarged second segment in the abdomen. Sex differentiation is especially easy when females carry eggs under the abdomen. The Black Mosura Tiger is a Caridina sp. which belongs to the specialized reproductive type. This means that after the gestation period of 3-5 weeks, no larvae are released here, but 15-30 fully developed juveniles that look like a miniature version of their parents.
Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Shrimp should be kept in a well filtered aquarium from 20 liters upwards. They need slightly acidic, very soft water. In our Garnelio store Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Shrimp sit in water with a conductance of 250 microsiemens, the pH is slightly below 7. The water temperature should not drop below 20 °C and should not exceed 25 °C - in case of doubt the aquarium should be cooled, especially in summer.
The Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shrimp likes oxygen-rich and preferably uncontaminated, low-germ water with a low nitrate content. For this reason, it should not be kept in heavily fertilized planted aquariums. In most areas here the tap water might be too hard for these beautiful high breeding shrimps. In this case it is worthwhile to work with demineralized water from a demineralizer or with osmosis water and to remineralize it with a suitable mineral salt for bee shrimp and taiwan shrimp. You can buy these mineral salts here at Garnelio in the online store.
Active Soil regulates the pH value and the water hardness downwards - a very suitable substrate for an aquarium with Black Mosura Tiger Shrimp. Basically, shrimp breeding tanks should not be planted very densely. A densely weedy aquarium makes selective breeding and thus the work of the breeder unnecessarily complicated. Bucephalandra or aquarium mosses as perching plants are a good way to still provide greenery and hiding places for the shrimp. When attached to roots or smaller stones, the plants can be easily lifted out of the aquarium when the shrimp need to be sorted.
We definitely recommend a species tank for breeding the Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Shrimp, possibly in the company of Turmdeckelschnecken. Unfortunately, these have proven to be quite short lived in very soft water. Some breeders alternatively use Tubifex or shiner worms, which do not mind the soft water and also keep the substrate clean and loose. At the same time, shiner worms or Tubifex are a good live food source for the shrimp.
As omnivores, Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger Shrimp will not only eat live food, but also growth as well as plant food. Once or twice a week they should be fed a protein food for bee shrimp, the rest of the diet should be plant based. Skyfish has developed a food that is tailored to its shrimp and has proven to be very effective. Dried green walnut leaves, scalded spinach or scalded nettle leaves are good plant foods that Skyfish Black Mosura Tiger shrimp will happily eat. Then add some brown fall foliage or a piece of a sea almond leaf as a tannin donor and a permanent food source, and the shrimp are full and happy.
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, where the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free from algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
