Description

The Black Pinto Mosura Tigers from Skyfish were crossed from different species and bred specifically. Among other things, besides bee shrimp (Caridina logemanni) also tiger shrimp (Caridina mariae) are involved. You can still see this very clearly in the colors and patterning. Here you get breeding groups of three animals of the highest grade SS or of five shrimps of the next lower grade S for sale. They come from Taiwan, from the breeding of Leon Su, also called Skyfish. Bee Shrimp and Tiger Shrimp, the ancestors of this Caridina high culture shrimp can be found in the wild in southern China. However, the Black Pinto Mosura Tiger is a cultured form from an aquarium. Because it is a hybrid, it is listed as Caridina sp.

The Black Pinto Mosura Tiger has on its dense white ground color on the one hand a black Mosura pattern on the back, which it inherited from the bee shrimp. Furthermore you can find black tiger stripes on the abdomen, and also a pied black pinto pattern on the carapace. Partially the spotting extends a bit on the abdomen. Skyfish dwarf shrimp are of high quality, and so also these Caridina hybrids have a good color density and a great color coverage. You will find very few transparent spots on the Grade SS, the Grade S is slightly less opaque in color.
Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp grow to about 2 to 3 cm in length. The males are rather smaller and also a bit slimmer than the thicker females. You can recognize them by their deeply extended abdominal segments and of course by eggs under the pleon when they are carrying. The egg spot is not seen well because of the dense color pigments. The females also often have a broadened second segment on the abdomen, called the tiger scoop.

Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp like their water soft, and they need as low a carbonate hardness as possible. Plenty of oxygen and a low germ density are also mandatory. A good aquarium filter, as large as possible, is helpful because it keeps the organic load of the water low, which also results in low germ density.

The Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shrimp is not suitable for keeping in heavily fertilized planted aquariums. It does not tolerate high nitrate levels. The aquarium for Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp should have a volume of at least 20 liters.

Skyfish Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shrimp can be kept in tap water only in the very least cases, because they prefer very soft and slightly acidic aquarium water. Many successful breeders of high breeding shrimps use osmosis water or demineralized water instead, which they bring to the appropriate values with the help of a mineral salt specially mixed for soft water shrimps. The suitable so-called bee salt is also available here in the store. Black Pinto Mosura Tigers feel most comfortable at a water temperature between 20 and 25 degrees. If the water in the aquarium becomes too warm in summer, we recommend an aquarium cooler.

As a substrate in the breeding aquarium, it is best to choose an active Soil for shrimp aquariums, which lowers and stabilizes the water hardness and pH value. We keep Skyfish shrimp in our facility in salted osmosis water at a conductance of 250 microsiemens and a pH slightly below 7.

The breeding aquarium for the Skyfish Black Pinto Mosura Tiger should be planted only a little, in order not to impair the clarity. Mosses or Bucephalandra are perfectly suitable here. They offer the shrimp a nice playground and hiding places. They can be tied up well on not too big pieces of roots or lava stones, which can easily be taken out of the aquarium when it comes to the selection work and the shrimps are to be sorted by color or pattern.

Ideally, Skyfish Caridina Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp live in a species tank, possibly with small fouling ear lattice catfish as a co-stock - provided the aquarium is large enough. From experience snails do not live very long in this soft water. A very good alternative as cleaning troop are shiny worms or Tubifex, which do not mind the soft water. They take care of leftovers and keep the substrate nice and clean. The shrimps eat a little worm every now and then, so they even have a permanent live food supply in the aquarium. Caridina Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp are somewhat stress-prone and should therefore not be socialized with larger fish or with crabs and shrimps . With other shrimps from the genus Caridina hybridization can occur, then the beautiful pattern is lost. Here one should weigh up well whether a socialization must be at all.

If the trappings are right, an advanced shrimp breeder will bring the Skyfish Caridina Black Pinto Mosura Tiger shrimp to breed. The females will set eggs after mating, and the young will hatch after four to six weeks. Since these Caridina hybrids are of the specialized reproductive type, the females have directly developed young, not larvae. The 15 to 30 young are on their own immediately after hatching.

Black Pinto Mosura Tiger Shrimp from Skyfish are omnivores, but should be fed primarily vegetable foods. The shrimp food specially developed by the breeder Skyfish from Taiwan is suitable as protein food. Scalded nettle leaves or green dried walnut leaves are also a valuable shrimp food. Protein food is given to Black Pinto Mosura Tigers only 1-2 times a week. Artemia nauplii are also a popular protein source here, along with the special food from Skyfish. Brown autumn leaves or a small sea almond leaf is a great permanent food and provides tannins that have a positive effect on the shrimp.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, which preserves the vitamins and other valuable ingredients as much as possible.

Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
