from over 3,000 reviews "The chic large-polyped pimple corals or shaggy corals of the genus Hydnophora are comparatively adaptable and robust. These interestingly colored and vigorous stony corals owe their name to their beautiful and interesting structures. Here you buy a colorful mix of different species of Hydnophora. This great genus of LPS corals originally come from the Indo-Pacific and Southeast Asia.
Hydnophora sp. stony corals are well suited for beginners in keeping stony corals in marine aquariums because of their easy keeping, but they are also a great choice for advanced fishers who would like to keep attractive large polyp stony corals in their reef that are not overly demanding and still look great.
Hydnophora sp. develops depending on the light intensity and on the availability of nutrients and trace elements and can therefore also vary somewhat in appearance in the aquarium. For many stony corals, supplemental feeding of plant and animal plankton has proven beneficial for better color and growth, although it is not mandatory to feed the corals in the aquarium.
For the stony coral Hydnophora sp. the seawater reef aqu arium should hold from about 150 liters. Hydnophora sp. likes a strong current and rather strong light. A place rather on top to in the middle of the reef is well suited. Hydnophora can strongly nettle other corals and should therefore always be placed with good distance to other cnidarians.
This large polyped stony coral can be propagated quite well by coral fragments; for this you glue the separated fragment with a suitable coral glue to a smaller stone or to a suitable place on your reef.
