Montipora plate green 1 offshoot

The plate-like green stone coral Montipora "Green" is called Velvet Coral in English. Its appearance is pretty well described by this name. The tiny green polyps on the plate look like a velvet coating. Montipora sp. Green develops beautiful intense green tones in marine aquariums when kept in good conditions. Montipora is a SPS stony coral and occurs naturally in the Indo-Pacific.

Green Montipora grows in a plate-like manner. SPS corals, to which Montipora belongs, are not considered easy to keep in the aquarium, however Montipora Plate Green is one of the less demanding representatives of small polyp stony corals and is well suited for informed beginners in coral keeping. The beautiful plate-like structure provides a great contrast to finger-like growing corals in the marine reef. The Montipora Plate Green fits in aquariums from 150 liters volume. Because it loves light, it is best to place the green SPS plate coral Montipora sp. "Green" in the middle to upper area of your reef.

Montipora sp. "Green" needs medium to much light in the aquarium. A certain amount of blue helps it to form its color pigments. In addition, the Green Stone Coral needs good water quality in a marine aquarium with as little nitrate and phosphate as possible , as well as a lively but steady water current. This allows the pretty Green Plate Coral to show its strong growth in the reef aquarium, and it takes on especially bright green hues. The water temperature in the aquarium with Montipora Plate Green should not exceed 27 °C permanently.

Montipora sp. "Green" can be propagated by cuttings. To do this, cut off a piece of the plate and reattach it with coral glue to a stone or directly to your saltwater reef.

You can feed the Green Plate Coral Montipora sp. "Green" as needed with fine plant and animal plankton.
