from over 3,000 reviews "The plate-like growing Red Stony Coral Montipora "Red" is called Velvet Coral or Velvet Coral in English, describes its appearance quite well. The tiny red polyps have a velvety appearance. Montipora sp. Red shows particularly intense bright red hues in marine aquariums when it finds good conditions. This SPS stony coral occurs in nature in the Indo-Pacific.
The red plate-like growing stony coral belongs to the SPS corals considered to be somewhat more difficult. However, it is not as demanding as other SPS corals and can therefore be maintained by informed beginners. The somewhat coarser plate-like structure is a great eye-catcher in the saltwater reef aquarium from 150 liters volume.
Montipora sp. "Red" likes a lot of light with a certain amount of blue, it needs a good water quality in the marine aquarium with as low as possible levels of nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate and a good water flow. Then the pretty red plate coral in the reef aquarium shows strong growth and especially bright intense colors.
Montipora sp. "Red" grows willingly and quickly in favorable conditions in the marine aquarium. The water temperature in the aquarium should not exceed 27 °C.
To propagate Montipora sp. "Red", cut off a piece of the plate and attach it with coral glue to a smaller rock or directly to your marine reef.
The light loving SPS plate coral Montipora sp. "Red" is best placed in the middle to upper part of your reef.
Feed the Red Plate Coral Montipora sp. "Red" as needed with fine plant and animal plankton.
