from over 3,000 reviews "The very variable, rainbow colored Micromussa (formerly: Acanthastrea) lordhowensis belongs to the large polyp stony corals aka LPS corals. Based on its previous name, the pretty stony coral is sometimes still called Acan.
Here you buy 1-2 polyps of the beautiful stony coral, a rainbow mix package. Let yourself be surprised by the great shapes and colors! This incredibly variable colored large polyp stony coral can reach up to 20 cm in diameter and has a very interesting shape. Its great colored large polyps are clearly visible. This LPS coral originates from the Indo-Pacific.
Micromussa stony corals or Acans are much easier to keep as LPS cor als than small polyp SPS corals. Large polyp stony corals are really good for beginners of coral keeping in reef aquariums. Micromussa lordhowensis simply shows great, varied colors and shapes in seawater. The coloration of the acans depends on the light intensity and especially on the availability of nutrients.
The adaptable large polyp stony coral Micromussa lordhowensis fits perfectly into seawater reef aquariums from 200 liters capacity. It feels most comfortable under medium light and also grows quite quickly if nutrients are present. Acans should be placed in the middle to lower area of your reef. They will even tolerate a spot in a shaded area and like blue light. Micromussa lordhowensis should not be exposed to strong direct light . The large polyp stony coral needs only a medium current.
Micromussa lordhowensis is grateful for feeding with fine plant and animal plankton in the reef aquarium - it then grows faster and shows especially beautiful colors. But you don't have to feed it necessarily.
The propagation of the large polyp coral is not difficult: You cut off a piece and glue it with a suitable coral glue on a suitable stone or directly on your reef. The offshoot of the Large Polyps Stone Coral will simply continue to grow in the new place.
