Corydoras virginiae is a very active armored catfish that, when kept in a group of conspecifics, is also active during the day. Miguelito Corydoras have a sand-colored body base color and black pattern markings. They look somewhat similar to the much more familiar Corydoras panda because of this.
Miguelito Corydoras can be kept together with a whole range of peaceful aquarium fish. Aquariums where Corydoras virginiae are kept should be a bit more shaded, because these pretty little ornamental fish don't like to be on display. If stronger lighting is necessary because of the plants, you should make sure to structure the aquarium very well with plants and roots so that the Corydoras find cover. This contributes immensely to their well-being, because they find retreats and resting places. An edge length from 80 cm is sufficient for the Miguelito Corydoras.
The breeding of this beautiful armored catfish has unfortunately only rarely succeeded, there are only a few reports about it. However, it can be assumed that it is similar to the breeding of other Corydoras species.
Corydoras virginiae do well in soft to medium hard water, a water temperature of about 24-28 °C is ideal for the pretty group fish. The Miguelito Corydorasginiae feels really well on fine light ground and in somewhat "tea-colored" water with a high content of humic substances.
Since Cory are very peaceful fish, you can alsosocialize the Miguelito Cory very well . It goes well with shrimp, snails, smaller tetras and other catfish.
Miguelito Cory are omnivores. Since they live on the bottom, their food should sink. They like to chew through the sand for food and burrow, so you should allow them sand as substrate in the aquarium or at least set up a generous corner with fine sand with rounded grains. In addition to food granules, these beautiful aquarium fish are also very fond of live or frozen food.
Our food recommendation: The NatureHolic Catfish Feed for all aufwuchs feeding sucking catfish in the aquarium is a balanced tablet food, which does not cloud the water and the fish like to eat. The catfish tablets also contain NatureHolic active ingredient complexes that provide sucking catfish with everything they need for a strong immune system, healthy growth and great, contrasting coloration. As a snack, supplemental food or vacation food, we recommend the CatfishPlates.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
