from over 3,000 reviews "The Blue Small Polyped Stony Coral for marine aquariums Montipora digitata "Blue" is covered by tiny light blue to intense blue polyps, which give it a velvety surface. This is the origin of its English name Velvet Coral. The reddish calcareous skeleton of the beautiful stone coral can still shimmer through and then provides a striking play of colors. The Small Polyped Stony Coral Montipora digitata is native to the Indo-Pacific.
The Blue Small Polyped Stony Coral is a SPS coral. While this small polyp class of stony coral is considered quite demanding, Montipora digitata "Blue" is well suited for informed beginners because it is quite hardy and adaptable for an SPS coral after all.
The Blue Small Polyped Stony Coral grows up to 25 cm and should be kept in a reef aquarium from 150 liters. Montipora digitata "Blue" needs medium to strong light with a certain amount of blue, good water values with as low a level of phosphate and nitrate as possible in the seawater and a good current for excellent growth and as intense colors as possible.
Montipora digitata "Blue" is a rather fast growing, rather coarse structured stony coral. Larger specimens may respond very positively to the use of a wavebox for better flow. The temperature in the saltwater aquarium with the Blue Small Polyped Stony Coral should not exceed 27 °C.
For propagation you separate one of the quite fragile coral branches of Montipora digitata "Blue" and fix it with coral glue on a stone or directly on your marine reef. Montipora digitata "Blue" needs a place in the upper part of your saltwater reef.
Feed the Blue Small Polyped Stony Coral Montipora digitata "Blue" with fine plant and animal plankton if needed.
