The Skyfish Red Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shrimp is a hybrid shrimp bred from different shrimp species, which may have its origin in bee shrimp (Caridina logemanni) and tiger shrimp (Caridina mariae). As a hybrid we call it Caridina sp. The breeder Leon Su alias Skyfish from Taiwan has combined here the beautiful patterns of tiger shrimp and Mosura bee shrimp in a wonderful high breeding animal.
Here you buy different sized breeding groups of 5 animals of grade S or of 2 animals of grade SS. The Grade S shows few transparent spots, with the Grade SS the colorless spots are again clearly reduced and also the legs show color. In the predominantly white 2-3 cm growing Red Mosura Tiger the ground color is an opaque bright white, the pattern markings are intensely red. The Mosura pattern - a red spot just in front of the tail fan - is clearly demarcated, and the tiger pattern shows in various thinner red stripes.
Females can be recognized by their beefier body shape and the fact that they are slightly larger when fully grown than the slimmer males. Furthermore, most female Red Mosura Tigers have an enlarged second segment on the abdomen, the so-called tiger scoop. And of course, identification is very easy when the animals are carrying eggs. As a Caridina sp. belonging to the specialized reproductive type, Red Mosura Tiger females release 15-30 fully developed youngafter 3-5 weeks of gestation.
The aquarium for the Skyfish Red Mosura Tiger shrimp should hold about 20 liters or more. These dwarf shrimp need very soft water with a pH value in the slightly acidic range. In our Garnelio store they sit at a conductance of 250 microsiemens in osmosis water, which we bring to this value with mineral salt. The pH-value in our Skyfish aquariums is slightly below 7. The water temperature should not fall below 20 °C and not exceed 25 °C.
The Red Mosura Tiger Dwarf Shrimp needs oxygen-rich and preferably germ-poor water. Usually tap water is too hard for these great high breeders. Shrimp breeders achieve good results with demineralized water from a demineralizer or also with osmosis water , which is salinated to the correct values with mineral salt for bee shrimp and taiwan shrimp. We carry suitable products for you here at Garnelio in our online store.
Active Soil, which regulates the water hardness downwards, is a good choice as substrate for a breeding aquarium with these pretty Caridina high breeding shrimps. Breeding tanks should not be densely planted - the Skyfish Red Mosura Tiger does not tolerate much nitrate on the one hand, which makes plant fertilization difficult, and on the other hand a densely weedy aquarium is very cluttered and makes breeder work unnecessarily difficult. Bucephalandra or aquarium mosses are a great alternative. As perching plants, attach them to small rocks such as aquarium grade lava or to small roots for the aquarium. This way the shrimp have hiding places and can graze on growth, and if you want to select, you can simply remove the plants from the aquarium.
We recommend a species tank for these Caridina shrimp, which are quite susceptible to stress. Snails clean up well and keep the substrate loose, but typical aquarium snails such as trumpet snails often don't live very long in soft water. As a clean-up troop, shiner worms are a good alternative. They keep the substrate clean and loosen it, and at the same time serve as a live food source for the shrimp.
In addition to live foods, Skyfish Red Mosura Tiger Shrimp, as nursery eaters and omnivores, also like to eat plant foods. They cover their protein requirements from the accompanying fauna, but predominantly also from the growth. Once or twice a week a protein food for bee shrimp should be supplemented - there is a very good product from Skyfish itself here, which is exactly tailored to the needs of its shrimp. Dried green walnut leaves are suitable as a vegetable food, but also scalded spinach or nettle leaves are a favorite food of the pretty Red Mosura Tiger shrimp. Add a little brown autumn foliage or a piece of sea almond leaf to create a permanent food source in the shrimp aquarium. The tannins contained here support the shrimp during molting, for example.
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as far as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
