SEACHEM - PhosNet - bagged - 50g

To prevent excessive phosphate or silicate levels, it is worth using PhosNet from Seachem. This is based on synthetic granular iron oxide and quickly and reliably removes phosphates and silicates in freshwater and saltwater aquariums and can thus prevent excessive algae development.

The granular iron oxide (GFO) has less dust than competing products and has a high porosity with a large surface area and correspondingly high binding capacity. As a result, it securely holds phosphate or silicate once absorbed and does not release them back into the aquarium water, keeping these levels permanently low. Check the water values before, during and after use with a suitable water test.

In order for the PhosNet to work optimally, it should be rinsed before first use and placed in a well-flowed location in the aquarium filter. It can be used in an external filter, trickle filter or multi-chamber filter without any problems. We recommend using a filter media bag, such as The Bag, which we also carry in our store. Since PhosNet is not an exchange resin, it does not release anything to the water and does not dissolve back phosphate or silicate, which is why it can also be dried temporarily and reused. Continuous use of rather small quantities is more advantageous than permanently large ones.

Application: Use 50 g of PhosNet per 200 liters of salt water, 50 g per 400 liters of fresh water. Leave the product in use for 4 days and then re-measure the phosphate or silicate concentration with the MultiTest Phosphate and MultiTest Silicate. If the concentration of the components to be lowered has not dropped to approx. 0.02 mg/liter, the PhosNet should be replaced, otherwise it can remain in the filter until the values begin to rise again. As long as the values remain permanently low, the concentration of PhosNet is not yet exhausted.
