The pretty Zebra Catfish are also available as L 129 and are scientifically called Hypancistrus debilittera. They originate from the Bita River in Colombia and are sometimes also known as Striped Peckoltia known. With their pretty namesake appearance, they are real eye-catchers in the aquarium and are also suitable for the community tank.
Care your Zebras best from 80 cm and in groups from 5-7 animals. The water should also be soft to medium hard with a pH-value between 5,5-7. Also choose a substrate of rounded pebbles, on which your catfish can not hurt themselves. Also provide a good structure with Roots and enough Cavesso that they can retreat to rest from time to time. You can place plants at the edge and in the background. Soft Bog roots you should always offer them, because they need the rasped down cellulose for their digestion.
Because the Zebra Catfish are very peace-loving fish, you can also keep them in excellent company. Peaceful tetras and danios, but also livebearers or dwarf shrimps are suitable. However, it is better not to keep them together with crayfish, because they may attack or injure your fish.
The Breeding of these great catfish is possiblefor this purpose they look for caves and closed tubes. The male guards the clutch, which includes about 10-15 eggs. The young animals can be raised among other things with Artemia nauplii.
The Zebra Catfish is an Omnivorewhich prefers meaty food. You can therefore spoil your animals with catfish chips or catfish tablets, but also with live and frozen food such as Artemia or mosquito larvae. You can also give him scalded vegetables like Lettuce, Cucumbers, Peppers, Zuchini- or Pumpkin chips offer. From time to time you can also spoil him with live and frozen food, Artemia, but also mosquito larvae or Tubifex are suitable.
Our food recommendation: The NatureHolic Catfish Feed for all sucking catfish in the aquarium is a well-balanced tablet food, which does not cloud the water and the fish like to eat. The catfish tablets also contain NatureHolic active ingredient complexes that provide sucking catfish with everything they need for a strong immune system, healthy growth and great, contrasting coloration. As snack, supplementary food or vacation food we recommend the CatfishPlates.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
