ADA - Tourmaline BC

The substrate additive ADA Tourmaline BC from Aqua Design Amano is an important part of the substrate structure according to Takashi Amano in the natural aquarium. With this mineral preparation you bring trace elements such as boron, sodium, aluminum, iron, magnesium and lithium as well as silicic acid, which are needed by the plants  and by the soil bacteria, into the aquarium. The powder enriches the water with traces of these oligominerals without even reaching dangerous concentrations.

ADA Tourmaline BC also generates small amounts of electrostatic energy when dissolved, which helps to initiate complex chemical and physical processes in the soil. They promote the uptake of nutrients by the roots of aquarium plants and can contribute to improved root growth, better nutrient utilization and, as a result, healthy, vigorously growing plants. In trials conducted at Aqua Design Amano, Glossostigma, for example, has been shown to respond very well to the use of ADA Tourmaline BC, growing twice as fast as in an aquarium without the soil additive.

ADA Tourmaline BC consists of finely ground natural tourmaline, a gemstone, and highly porous charcoal powder, which not only enhances the reaction, but can also bind pollutants from the substrate and water. Thus, harmful bacteria in the substrate do not come up in the first place, the life of the substrate is extended.

ADA Tourmaline BC is sprinkled together with ADA Bacter 100 and ADA Clear Super on the glass pane of the aquarium before Power Sand and Aqua Soil are added.
