Carrying Yellow Fire Shrimp - Yellow Shrimp

Female Yellow Fire (Neocaridina davidi) carry their eggs under their abdomen, where they fan and nurse them intensively. After a gestation period of three to four weeks (depending on the temperature) between 20 and 40 young animals hatch, which do not have to go through any more larval stages and grow up in freshwater.

If you buy an already pregnant female, you automatically have a much higher diversity of genes in the aquarium, and the number of shrimp grows much faster. Yellow Fire shrimp should never be kept alone, and even pregnant females, as group animals, need the security of an initial population of 10 to 15 animals.

Young shrimp should be fed a suitable dust food, such as Natureholic Baby Food.
