from over 3,000 reviews "C02: | without CO2 fertilization |
Type: | InVitro |
Basin placement: | Foreground |
Light requirements: | medium |
Growth rate: | medium |
Origin: | America |
Genus: | Echinodorus |
One often sees the rosette plant Echinodorus latifolius also as Helanthium bolivianum "latifolius ". The broad-leaved dwarf plant forms runners (which is why it was also moved from the genus Echinodorus to the genus Helanthium) and is therefore optimal in well-lit aquariums as a ground cover for the foreground in the aquarium, where it forms a beautiful and especially dense lawn under sufficient light. Plant populations should be thinned out a little from time to time to prevent individual plants from becoming too dense. Cut off runners can be planted as offshoots, the propagation of Echinodorus latifolius / Helanthium bolivianum "latifolius" is thus really very easy.
If the broad-leaved dwarf plant is well supplied with nutrients, especially iron, and has enough light, it grows quickly and vigorously and remains nice and small with 5-10 cm. Under less light, the leaflets like to go up more, they can then reach 50 cm high - then the plant is clearly a case for the middle ground to background, depending on the aquarium size.
This algae-free, snail-free and parasite-free InVitro grown broadleaf dwarf sword plant comes from a plant science lab. It has not been treated with pesticides, so it may be added directly to the aquarium without quarantine after removing the transparent nutrient substrate from the roots, even to the actually very sensitive dwarf shrimp.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new set up the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
