Ludwigia Mini Super Red x Micranthemum Monte Carlo - NatureHolic InVitro
This NatureHolic Invitro pot contains two very popular aquarium plants at the same time - the relatively low remaining stem plant Ludwigia repens "Mini Super Red" and the beautiful ground cover Micranthemum tweediei "Monte Carlo".
The red-leaved Ludwigia "Mini Super Red" takes on bright deep red hues in the aquarium with medium to strong light, a proper supply of nutrients and CO2. Ludwigia repens "Mini Super Red" tends to stay low and grows loosely upright. Although the name "repens" means "creeping", it refers to the terrestrial form. You can also cultivate Ludwigia Mini Super Red emersed, i.e. above water.
In large aquariums, Ludwigia repens "Mini Super Red" looks great in the middle ground. In nano aquariums it looks very good in the background. The red leaf color of the Mini Super Red Ludwigia looks great against a background of pure green plants or as a dark red splash of color in a tank with colorful aquarium plants. A super beautiful eye-catcher is this unusual plant in any case!
Ludwigia repens Mini Super Red is very easy to cultivate and already shows beautiful red colors under medium light. It is even suitable for the garden pond, where you can grow it super even at the transition from land to water out of the pond. Ludwigia repens "Mini Super Red" is even hardy in our area.
The ground cover Micranthemum tweediei, also known as Micranthemum sp. Montecarlo is a pearl weed from South America. Micranthemum Montecarlo is much hardier and more frugal than the very demanding Cuba dwarf pearlwort Hemianthus callitrichoides. The roundish leaflets of Montecarlo pearlwort are somewhat coarser than those of Hemianthus callitrichoides, but are also a bright light green. The branching shoots of this creeping stem plant quickly form a dense carpet in the foreground of the aquarium.
Micranthemum tweediei "Montecarlo" remains a low groundcover at 5-7 cm, which is also very popular in aquascaping. Before the carpet becomes too thick, you should cut back the foreground plant vigorously. If it becomes too thick, the lower shoots will die and the entire carpet may sprout.
To plant, divide the Montecarlo pearlwort into small bundles and insert them into the substrate with some spacing. The Micranthemum tweediei Montecarlo grows moderately fast and closes the gaps quickly, so that you soon have a beautiful green, small-leaved carpet in the foreground of your aquarium or aquascape.
Both plants can be propagated very easily - cut off side shoots and replant the cut stems. They will soon sprout roots and the stem plants will then grow vigorously again.
Ludwigia repens "Mini Super Red" and Montecarlo Pearlwort were both produced in InVitro culture in the laboratory. These aquarium plants do not bring unwanted co-inhabitants such as snails, worms or parasites, they are free of algae, and they have never been in contact with pesticides or other plant protection products - a huge advantage if you want to put the plants in a shrimp aquarium. You can put them in without quarantine - just rinse off the nutrient substrate, separate the stems from each other a bit, plant them in, and you're done.
Our recommendation: For magnificent plant growth, we recommend Premium Nutrient Substrate when setting up a new aquarium: NatureHolic GroundBooster
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant adhesive stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
