This moss cave planted with Christmas moss consists of half a coconut with entrance hole. It is a very decorative hiding place and retreat for shrimp and smaller crayfish or crabs. It is also a perfect shelter for small to medium sized catfish.
The less demanding Christmas Moss originally comes from Indonesia. Its scientific name is Vesicularia montagnei. Here it was fixed with a nylon cord or a hair net, but it gradually grows on the substrate by itself. Optimal effect of this coco cave is especially in the foreground or in the middle ground.
As its name suggests, Christmas moss has dark green, uniformly triangular, strong fronds reminiscent of fir branches. It is best grown as a perching plant on roots, caves or stones.
The beautiful cushions are easy to propagate by cutting off a part and tying up the new fronds. This can be done incidentally, for example, when pruning.
Not only in shrimp aquariums Christmas Moss sets great accents, it also looks great in an aquascape or even on land in a wet terrarium.
