The reticulated catfish, also known by the scientific name Corydoras reticulatus, is a species of armored catfish from South America. It is a peaceful and medium sized fish that should be kept in groups and socializes well with most other ornamental fish.
It can be kept in aquariums with a length of 80 cm or more, whereby sand or fine gravel without edges should be chosen as substrate and border or background planting is sufficient. For the reticulated catfish a pH-value between 6,0 and 7,5 as well as a total hardness of 5 to 15° dGH is recommended.
The water temperature should be about 24 to 30° Celsius. The reticulated catfish is an undemanding eater and can be fed with commercially available ornamental fish food as well as frozen and live food. It can reach a total length of up to 6 cm when fully grown.
Breeding in the aquarium is not difficult and can be done by spawning on aquarium glass, rocks and aquatic plant leaves. A clutch can consist of up to 60 eggs and the fry can be reared with Artemia euplii. Our Corydoras reticulatus are usually 2-4 cm long upon delivery, although these size specifications are approximate and variations are possible.
