Venezuela Corydoras orange - Corydoras spec. "Venezuela"
The beautiful orange Venezuela Corydoras sp. "Venezuela" is amazingly colorful for a Corydoras . Orange yellow areas alternate with darker areas that are outshined by a metallic turquoise. The dorsal fin is orange. On the mouth, the orange Venezuela Corydoras has rather short barbels. The Venezuela Corydoras belongs to an undescribed species from Venezuela, South America.
The males of the orange Venezuela Corydoras are rather slimmer than the females. The somewhat bulkier females grow to about 6 cm in length, while the males remain somewhat smaller with a TL of 5 cm. The orange Venezuela Corydoras is a fidgety and very sociable, social group fish. These corys should not be kept alone, but need the company of armored catfish of the same species. A group of at least 5-10 Corydoras "Venezuela" is necessary for species appropriate keeping. The orange Venezuela Corydoras lives as a bottom fish preferentially in the lower area of the aquarium, but for breathing the intestinal breather goes basically to the water surface. For this reason, Corydoras always need free access to the water surface.
Like all Corydoras, the orange Venezuela Cory is a really peaceful and very sociable Cory, which gets along very well with other peaceful aquarium fish and fits especially well as a bottom group in a South America community tank. The by-fish should also be rather small to medium sized and also of peaceful nature. A socialization of the Venezuela Corydoras sp. "Venezuela" with shrimps is usually possible without problems - it may happen that a particularly cheeky small shrimp is accidentally eaten, but Corydoras sp. "Venezuela" do not actively hunt for shrimps, they rather prefer worms and other soft food.
The orange Venezuela Corydoras can easily reproduce in the aquarium (depending on the stocking even in the community aquarium). In aquaristics this beautiful cory is already successfully bred. For a specific breeding we recommend a separate breeding aquarium with soft water. Condition the orange Venezuela Corydoras sp. for breeding preparation with especially rich live food and high quality frozen food, and do several water changes with cooler, soft water to stimulate spawning readiness and to trigger courtship. The female of Corydoras sp. "Venezuela" attaches about 100 sticky eggs in loose clusters to all possible surfaces in the aquarium, gladly also to the aquarium glass. The small cory larvae hatch after a few days and initially feed on their yolk sac. When the yolk sac is used up, feed them with Artemia nauplii and rearing dust food. After spawning, return the parents to their own aquarium so that they do not eat the fry.
The orange Venezuela Cory is most comfortable at a water temperature of 22-26 °C and in soft to medium hard water as well as at a pH between 6 and 7. The aquarium should have a front edge length of about 80 cm for a small group of 5-10 orange Venezuela Corydoras.
Sandy substrate will be rummaged through by the armored catfish with preference. A sand corner does a good job if you want to use a different substrate in the aquarium. Sand gives the orange Venezuela Corys the opportunity to search for their food by burrowing in the bottom, just like in nature. It looks really funny when the little fishes pump the fine sand through their gills with their heads stuck in the bottom. Hiding places in the form of caves and shelters under roots and stones are grateful to the armored catfish.
The orange Venezuela Cory is an omnivore with a clear emphasis on animal food. It loves sinking frozen food and live food (especially worms), but also biofilms and sometimes even smaller plant remains, mulm and algae. Suitable for species-appropriate feeding of Corydoras sp. "orange Venezuela" are especially high-quality flake food or granulated food for all omnivores among the aquarium fish in the community aquarium, for example our NatureHolic Mainfeed.
Our food recommendation: The NatureHolic Catfish Feed for all aufwuchs feeding sucking catfish in the aquarium is a balanced tablet food, which does not cloud the water and the fish like to eat. The catfish tablets also contain NatureHolic active ingredient complexes that provide sucking catfish with everything they need for a strong immune system, healthy growth and great, contrasting coloration. As snack, supplementary food or vacation food we recommend the CatfishPlates.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
