Biosphere - Ball with Java moss - Dennerle

The floating biosphere ball is planted with Java moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri). It is anchored in the aquarium with a transparent nylon cord. A group of Biosphere Balls at different heights looks particularly impressive.

Java moss does not require excessive light, so even the moss on the underside of the floating ball stays nice and green. Every now and then, the biosphere ball should be trimmed into shape, and the moss that accumulates in the process can of course be tied up in new places.

In the cushion of Java moss only shrimps find hiding places and another level in the aquarium, bacteria also settle there, which break down the organic waste substances nitrite and ammonium. This can improve the water quality enormously. In the Javamoos smallest particles catch, which are eaten by shrimps and also by dwarf crabs very gladly.
