from over 3,000 reviews "Bright yellow goldfish are even slightly more visible in the pond than the conventional, classic orange-gold version. Goldfish have been looking back on a career as purely ornamental fish for many hundreds of years. In ancient China they were considered lucky charms. The yellow goldfish Carassius auratus auratus descends via detours from the Chinese silver crucian carp. The juvenile coat of the goldfish is usually dark brown to black. Only at about two years of age does the fish change color and then take on its beautiful sunny yellow coloration. Here in Garnelio's online store you can choose between different sizes of Yellow Goldfish: 4-6 cm, 6-9 cm or 9-12 cm size . A fully grown Yellow Goldfish can reach a body length of 30-40 cm body length and live about 25 years, in exceptional cases even up to 40 years.
The golden yellow variant of Carassius auratus auratus is also a sociable fish, which likes to live in a group - however, the goldfish does not care about the color of its conspecifics. A group of goldfish should consist of at least 5 fish of approximately the same size. We recommend at least 4 cubic meters of pond volume or more for a group of five in a goldfish pond . Unfortunately, smaller garden ponds are not suitable for keeping goldfish. The yellow goldfish looks quite similar to its natural form, which makes this carp fish a very skillful swimmer that requires appropriate space in the pond.
Like all Carassius auratus auratus, the golden yellow variety of goldfish is an omnivore that loves to feed on algae cover, soft plant shoots and plant debris in the pond. Goldfish are also quite effective at keeping mosquito larvae and other insect larvae short in the pond, and they will also seek out worms and minute crustaceans from the pond mud. If the garden pond is heavily stocked, however, the food the goldfish find like this is often not enough. Then you should feed them with a food specially designed for goldfish - here you give as much as the fish can eat within a few minutes. This keeps the water pollution within limits. If the water temperature is high in summer, it can be useful to introduce additional oxygen - this can be done with a pump, an oxydator for garden ponds or similar.
Yellow Goldfish are like all Carassius auratus auratus fish for rather cool water. Permanently over 20 to 24 °C the water temperature should not rise and also not fall below 4 °C . Therefore, a place in partial shade is best for the goldfish pond.
If the garden pond is not deep enough for the goldfish, the water can freeze through to the bottom in winter. In this case, you need to catch the goldfish out in the fall and put them in a cool standing tub of water or a large cold water aquarium for the winter. The winter quarters for the goldfish must be placed cold, but frost-free. Goldfish need to hibernate for the winter. If they are wintered too warm, their rhythm will be upset and they will lose significant lifespan. From a water depth of 90-130 cm you can let your yellow goldfish overwinter in the pond. On the bottom they fall into cold rigidity and reduce their metabolism greatly. An ice freezer ensures that the goldfish pond does not freeze over and that the oxygen requirements of the pond fish are met.
Yellow goldfish certainly reproduce in the garden pond. When the pond water slowly warms up in spring, the mating season begins for goldfish. The females spawn in the open water. The eggs are fertilized by the males as they sink to the bottom. Because goldfish are spawn predators and also eat juveniles, a goldfish pond suitable for goldfish breeding should have extensive shallow water areas where many fine-textured plants grow. Here the young fish can hide from the older goldfish.
