JBL Zanzibar Dark 5kg

With the dark fine granite sand Sansibar from JBL you can create a great freshwater or saltwater aquarium but also terrarium in no time! On dark ground your animals will feel comfortable and develop brilliant colors. The Sansibar Dark is also so dark that it does not reflect and is therefore particularly suitable for shy and timid fish. The quality of the water is also improved, as the substrate is one of the largest biological filter media in the aquarium and provides a perfect settlement area for countless beneficial microorganisms.

Thanks to the particularly fine grain size of 0.2-0.6 millimeters, seepage of mulm and other debris is prevented and provides a secure hold for mussels in particular. Snails and dwarf shrimps can also be kept on the Sansibar. It is also ideal for bottom-dwelling fish such as armored catfish, which have very sensitive barbels that can easily injure them. Combine the great granite sand with other colors or hardscape elements such as roots and stones, which we offer in the store!

With our Ground Booster, a special nutrient concentrate, you also enhance your aquarium perfectly. With it you offer your plants an optimal medium for a splendid growth. This slow-release fertilizer optimally supplies the plant roots with nutrients and thus ensures strong root formation and impressive colors. As a result, they optimally enrich the water with oxygen and even inhibit the development of algae.

We recommend this substrate setup:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of gravel/sand.

Before first use, the sand should be washed out several times with cold water to remove abrasion caused by transport. We rather advise against using it with underfloor heating cable, as no proper water circulation can occur.
