Native to Indonesia, Vesicularia montagnei is called Christmas moss because of its fir frond shaped shoots. It grows readily on wood and stones firmly and thus fits in the middle ground on the decorative materials, to which it gives a very primordial appearance. It can also be grown well in the foreground tied up on flat stones or just like that.
The attractive cushions grow very large when uncut. For propagation one can simply divide them. If you have to cut it back, the cut shoots can be used again very well for tying up.
In the aquascape and in shrimp aqu ariums Christmas moss cuts a particularly good figure, but also emersed in humid terrariums (not with herbivorous inhabitants, of course) it makes a good impression. Shrimps like to graze on the fronds, because biofilms form here and because a little detritus is always caught.
