Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' was created in a Ukrainian culture probably by crossing Echinodorus horemanni 'Red' and Echinodorus x barthii. The result is an attractive sword plant with ruby red leaves 15-25 cm long.
Unlike many of the other Echinodorus species, Echinodorus 'Red Diamond' retains a size that makes it particularly suitable as a specimen plant, even in smaller aquariums. A nutrient-rich soil will provide more vigorous growth, while good light conditions will encourage the formation of the ruby red leaves
