Super White Bee - Caridina sp.

With the Super White Bee we offer a particularly pretty and opaque white colored variety of the Snow White Bee Caridina sp., the completely white variant of the bee shrimp. The Super White Bee was crossed from Snow White Bees and Blue Bolts. This white shrimp shows no black or red pigments, only the orange body color of the Red Bee shines through a bit here, giving a fascinating color effect. The white pigments almost look a bit like a tiny floral pattern of very closely spaced fine florets. The Super White Bee was created by selective breeding and the crossing of a variety of the Taiwan Bee, the Blue Bolt. Thus it is a hybrid.

Peaceful small fish like Boraras are good aquarium companions for the Super White Shrimp. Snails sometimes have a hard time building their shells in soft water. The relatively low reproduction rate of this Caridina shrimp, however, speaks for a pure shrimp tank. Sometimes a nosy baby shrimp finds its way into the fish's mouth, no matter how small it is. The Super White Bee Shrimp does not feel comfortable with crayfish and dwarf crabs, predatory snails, freshwater crabs and mussels due to different water requirements and potential attacks.

The Super White Bee looks especially beautiful in planted aquariums, but this great Caridina is also a good choice for selective color breeding with other bee shrimp, Taiwang shrimp or Caridina hybrids. It brings a covering white coloration and can be used for breeding improvement. As a starting stock we recommend a group of at least 10 Super White Bees.

Females grow to 3 to 3.5 inches in size, while males are both slimmer and slightly smaller. Like all relatives and breeding forms of the Southern China Bee Shrimp, the Super White Bee likes rather cooler, slightly acidic and soft water with as little water pollution as possible. The Super White Bee as a soft water shr imp should therefore not be kept in hard or medium hard tap water, but in soft water with a carbonate hardness as low as possible. Ideal for this beautiful breeding form Caridina sp. is osmosis water combined with mineral salt for bee shrimp, which you can of course also buy here in the store.

As an omnivore the Super White Bee is not particularly difficult to feed. Brown autumn leaves are gladly accepted - an excellent permanent food for shrimps in the aquarium, which does not pollute the water strongly. In addition to predominantly vegetable staple foods, these Caridina sp. should also be fed a suitable protein food for shrimp once or twice a week to meet their protein needs.

Active Soil for shrimp buffers the water values optimally for bee shrimp and softens the water. This substrate has been proven over many years by keepers and breeders of Caridina species from soft water. The Super White Bee can of course also be kept in an aquarium with neutral aquarium gravel or sand as substrate, but Soil is more advantageous due to its buffer function.
In an aquarium for the Super White Bee Caridina sp. a water change of 10 to 30% per week has proven itself. A heater is not necessary, room temperature is sufficient for the shrimp. If temperatures rise above 25 °C in summer, however, cooling the aqu arium is advantageous.

If kept under good conditions in the aquarium, the Super White Bee reproduces willingly. The females carry 20 to 40 eggs under their abdomen, which they fan, clean and care for devotedly. After three to four weeks of brood care, the young shrimp hatch. In the early days, juveniles of bee shrimp related species and hybrids are quite sedentary, so in a breeding aquarium with shrimp offspring, they should be fed dust foods that are well distributed.

Socialization with Black Bees, Red Bees, Caridina cantonensis or other soft water shrimp is very possible with the Super White Bee, but the strains and color strokes will mix - which can lead to interesting new colors with lots of white. But even kept pure in a species tank, the Super White Bee naturally feels very comfortable.
