Henna branch

The henna shrub, botanically Lawsonia inermis, has been known in naturopathy since ancient times and is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 8 meters high. The exact origin of the henna shrub has not yet been fully clarified, but it is found in predominantly warmer climates and is therefore cultivated today in North and East Africa, but also in many places in Asia. In phytotherapy, henna is considered to be germ-inhibiting.

Our henna branch is handpicked and 100% natural. It releases humic acids and tannins into the water, which have a positive effect on the water values and also protect the mucous membranes and gills. With its many branches, a particularly natural layout can be conjured up in the aquarium, and fish can also find shelter and hiding places here. The large rough surface of the thin bark offers useful and denitrifying microorganisms a great place to settle and multiply. Especially shrimps love to eat this biofilm.

Catfish also find the Henna twig irresistible, because they need wood for their digestion and like to rasp around on it. With Mosses or small rhizome plants like Java fern, Anubias or Bucephalandra, which we also carry in the store, the henna branch can be planted great and becomes a cool eye-catcher.

The size of the Henna branch can be easily adjusted to your needs by sawing or pinching it off. We also recommend watering the Henna Branch before placing it in the aquarium so that it does not float. Of course, it can also be prevented from floating with heavy objects or fixed directly to rocks or a slate.
