The native strandling is a beautiful, but also somewhat demanding aquarium plant. In nature, the grass-like growing rosette plant Littorella uniflora is found in shore zones and shallow water of nutrient-poor stagnant waters on sandy bottoms.
The strandling grows relatively slowly under aquarium conditions, it reproduces by runners. To propagate, simply divide the stolons and plant them elsewhere. As a grass plant for the foreground it is a nice alternative. The aquarium should only not become too warm. For unheated shrimp aquariums, for example, the strandling is excellent.
For the garden pond, Littorella uniflora is a great border planting that overwinters easily, moves in during the fall, and returns the next year. You can let the plant carpet grow out of the water.
