from over 3,000 reviews "The coin-shaped flat, circular polyps of the crustose anemone Zoanthus sp. form wonderfully observable colorful colonies in the marine aquarium over time. Here you can buy Zoanthus with 3-5 polyps from our colorful mix.
Especially under blue light Zoanthus sp. form fantastic fluorescent colors, but also under daylight illumination they are just beautiful. The individual polyps of the crustose anemone can reach a diameter of 3-5 cm. The crustose anemone genus Zoanthus sp. is widely distributed and is found in the Indo-Pacific, parts of the Atlantic, Australia and the Caribbean.
The crustose anemone Zoanthus sp. is easy to keep in the aquarium and is especially well suited for beginners, but also offers a lot for advanced marine enthusiasts due to its wonderful appearance and good colony growth. Zoas can be kept in nano marine aquariums as small as 50 liters in volume.
Zoas need a medium to strong current in the nano reef and even tolerate shade, weak over medium to strong light. Note: The brighter the anemone is colored, the more light it needs.
Some nitrate and phosphate and dissolved amino acids are very beneficial to the well-being of crustose anemones, their coloration and reproduction. Zoanthus feel comfortable in virtually any place in the marine aquarium; for example, you can optimally place them in places where corals do not feel comfortable.
Supplemental feeding is not absolutely necessary for zoas in a marine aquarium, but of course you can't go wrong with liquid coral food consisting of fine plant and animal plankton.
Propagation of the crustose anemone Zoanthus sp. is possible. The easiest method is to place a small offshoot on the large mother stock. If the crustose anemone grows well, polyps will soon colonize the smaller stone. Then cut the connection of the base tissue of the future offshoot to the mother stock with a scalpel. In any case, leave the offshoot in the aquarium for a while until the injury heals.
Please note: The beautiful crustose anemone Zoanthus sp. contains a harmful toxin, but normal handling in the aquarium is not dangerous. If you make offshoots, however, you should in any case not touch them with bare hands, but work on the only with gloves and protective goggles.
