The dark granite sand Sansibar Dark from JBL ensures a noble appearance of your aquarium or terrarium - in addition, this sand can also be used in saltwater aquariums ! Above all, your well-kept animals will reward this choice with magnificent colors, because most aquarium fish feel safe on dark bottom grounds and thus show their entire repertoire and play of colors. What's more, the substrate is not reflective , which is especially beneficial for skittish fish! As one of the largest biological filter media, the substrate in the aquarium is also an important foundation, because useful microorganisms form on it, which contribute significantly to improving water quality .

The fine grain size of 0.2-0.6 millimeters prevents mulm and other debris from seeping in and provides a secure hold for mussels in particular, but bottom burrowing snails also get their money's worth. Thanks to the rounded edges, the fine granite sand is also ideal for bottom-dwelling fish such as armored catfish, which have very sensitive barbels that can easily injure them. The noble sand also looks great with gravel in a coarser order and also with hardscape such as roots or stones, which you can find in the store.

With a special nutrient substrate, such as our Ground Boosterwhich you can find in our store, you offer your plants an optimal medium for a splendid growth. This slow-release fertilizer provides the plant roots with nutrients optimally and thus ensures a strong root formation and impressive colors. This enriches the water optimally with oxygen and even deprives algae of the food basis, which is why these are inhibited in their development, which is especially advantageous for newly set up tanks.

We recommend this ground booster:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of gravel/sand.

Before first use, the sand should be washed out several times with cold water to remove abrasion caused by transport. We rather advise against using it with underfloor heating cable, as no proper water circulation can occur.
