Description

The cute Red Pepper Tetra is one of the mini fish and is also known as Strawberry T etra or Ruby T etra. It originates from the Rio Meta, which is connected to the Orinoco river system. Scientifically described as Axelrodia risei, it belongs to the true tetras, which reach a size of just 3 cm.

With its striking red color and black spot on the caudal fin, the Pepper Tetra is a great eye-catcher in the aquarium, drawing its strength from group size. It has a terminal mouth and a very large eye and features the typical tetra adipose fin. Females tend to grow slightly larger and stockier than the more slender males.

Maintain a group of these great nano fish from 54 liters and structure the aquarium well. Caves, retreats and hiding places they take now and then very gladly, in places you can also plant the aquarium densely. Make sure, however, that they have enough free swimming space available.

A socialization of these friendly and surface-dwelling tetras is quite possible with other peaceful by-fish. Also peaceful dwarf crayfish and shrimps as well as snails and mussels are no problem, since your darlings have only very small snouts, mostly also the shrimp offspring is safe from being eaten.

Breeding is possible, but quite difficult, so that it is rather a matter of accidental breeding.

Your omnivores can be fed with dry food or Granult for nano fish and occasionally supplemented with very fine live and frozen food. Nauplii, daphnia or artemia are well suited here. Pay a little attention to the food quantities,  your strawberry tetras tend to fill their bellies too much.

Our food recommendation: NatureHolic professional main feed is a professional main feed for all aquarium fish. We supply Hauptfeed in the form of a soft granulate, which thanks to its grain size of half a millimeter can be easily ingested by small to medium-sized fish. The soft consistency resembles the texture of insect larvae in nature and protects the fish mouth from micro-injuries.

Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.

Hallo Gertrud, vielen Dankf uer deine Frage!
