from over 3,000 reviews "The Mocha racing sn ail belongs to a species of the genus Neritodryas that has not yet been more precisely determined. This new racing sn ail from the family of Neritidae or mermaid snails comes to us from Southeast Asia and is not yet represented in aquaristics. The reddish brown to dark brown, sometimes darker patterned Mocha snail reaches a shell length of about 2.5 to 3 cm.
Like most racing snails in aquaristics, the Mocha racing snail is an excellent algae eater and reliably frees the glass panes and decoration from algae deposits. On the other hand, Neritodryas sp. does not attack plants.
Mocha racing snails should not be put into aquariums that are too new, as they eat only biofilms and algae coverings at the beginning, as they are used to in nature. This racing snail especially likes to graze on the biofilms that form on brown foliage. Hokkaido squash is also often very readily accepted by the Mocha racing snail. Our NatureHolic Snail Feed forms a feeding lawn that closely resembles the snail's natural diet.
Like all freshwater neritids, the Mocha Racing Snail is bisexual, but it is not possible to distinguish the sexes from each other based on external characteristics - although this is almost irrelevant because it is not possible to breedthis racing snail in freshwater anyway.
The females of the Mocha racing snail attach their whitish to beige small egg cocoons on hard materials like other snail shells, but also on stones or the aquarium glass after mating (which takes place nevertheless). From the cocoons hatch after some time tiny larvae floating in the water, which in nature would drift into the sea and do not survive long in fresh water. Reproduction in the aquarium is absolutely impossible with the Mocha racing snail.
Mocha racing snails feel comfortable inmedium to hard water. The water temperature should be between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. For permanent keeping, well-maintained aquariums with a side length of 60 cm or more are suitable for one to three snails.
Since the mocha racing snail Neritodryas sp. is really excellently protected from curious fellow inhabitants in the aquarium by its thick shell and shell shape as well as by its lid, it can be socialized with almost all peaceful to medium-sized aquarium fish and invertebrates that are not specialized on snails as their main food.
Neritodryas lives in nature partly on mangrove trunks and also goes out of the water. The aquarium must be covered very well in any case, so that the snails cannot crawl out. Keeping them in an aquaterrarium or paludarium is very much in line with the natural lifestyle of the Mocha racing snail.
Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Also delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not go to conventional food, can be well fed up with it.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.
