Norman's Luminous Eyefish is an attractive mini fish that looks great especially among aquatic plants. It is scientifically called Aplocheilichthys normani and belongs to the Kilifishes. Its habitat is in West Africa, where it occurs between Senegal via North Cameroon and Central Africa, but is also found on the Nile and in the Chad River.
With a size of only 4 cm this Luminous Eyefish remains quite small, but it absolutely needs an aquarium of 54 liters or more. It is also better to keep it in a shoal. Allow him 5-10 buddies, because otherwise he gets lonely and hides. Structure his aquarium well. For this purpose you can place dense plant groups at the edge and in the background, because they like to retreat into them. You can also create great retreats with root and stone structures that prevent them from falling over.
You can keep your blue fire-eye fish quite uncomplicated in soft water, pay attention to a pH value between 6,0-7,5 and provide for a good oxygen supply. For this purpose you can use oxydators or outflow stones or position your filter outlet accordingly so that the water surface is moved more strongly. Humic substances must not be neglected in your luminous eyes. You can add alder cones or a handful of brown autumn leaves to the aquarium.
Your darlings can also be bred in the aquarium. They are adhesive spawners, which stick their eggs to plants. You can raise the young with rotifers, slipper animals, but also with a baby food like our BabyFeed .
Because they are very peaceful, you can socialize them with other small fish that tolerate the same water values, but also with shrimps, snails, mussels or crayfish.
This omnivore is quite uncomplicated to feed. The Blue Glow Eyes can be accustomed to almost any flake or granular food. However, they prefer to munch their way through a varied offering of small live foods and frozen foods ranging from microworms to mosquito larvae - but a real spectacle is offered to the keeper when a freshly hatched cloud of Artemia nauplii is offered!
Our food recommendation: The professional NatureHolic Nanofeed is a Staple food for all small aquarium fish. This mini fish food and rearing food is a fine soft granulate that, thanks to its softness, resembles the consistency of tiny crustaceans and insect larvae and protects the delicate mouth of nano fish and fry from micro-injuries.
Our plant recommendation: For planting, use NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
