Also known scientifically as Trichogaster trichopterus, the Laybrinther is a breeding variant of the wild form that originally comes from Southeast Asia, where it inhabits river sections. Threadfishes have always been old hands in aquaristics and are extremely popular.

Offer your favorites an aquarium with an edge length of at least 120 cm, as they can grow up to 15 cm. During mating, the male embraces the female. The female gradually ejects up to 1000 eggs, which float up in the water and are fertilized by the male as they float up. Once the eggs are laid, the male drives the female away. If the aquarium is not large or not structured enough, injuries can occur. If in doubt, please remove the female from the rearing tank. When the larvae start to swim freely, the male should also be taken out of the rearing aquarium so that he does not eat them. The fry are raised with dust food, fine live food like infusoria or slipper fish and later also with artemia euplii.

You can also socialize your Golden Fafis with other peaceful fish, but make sure they are not other gourami or labyrinth fish. Dwarf shrimps or Amano shrimps can also be kept together with them, but it always happens that a juvenile is eaten.
