Hygrophila corymbosa Compact - Tropica pot
Leaves are brownish-dark brown when the plant is delivered, but after acclimation in the aquarium, the leaves become light green with silvery-white undersides. Under strong lighting, the newest leaves may turn reddish brown, and over time the oldest and lower leaves die - especially under low light intensity. However, new side shoots often form to fill the space.
The quite undemanding Compact Water Lily Hygrophila corymbosa "Compact" from Southeast Asia is particularly suitable as background planting for large aquariums. The Water Lily is well suited for group planting and contrasts wonderfully with more finely structured plants. However, the individual plants should not be too close together so that the lower leaves also get light. Underwater, the broad leaves are bright light green. The upper leaves often show reddish-brown leaf veins.
Compact Water Lily grows 5 to 10 inches weekly. If not pruned, it will grow above the water level and then bloom with purple flowers. So it is excellent for open aquariums as well.
If the water friend is pruned, new side shoots will form.
The cut plant parts can be planted without problems and will take root after a short time.
